Workshops

I am CRB checked and available for creative workshops involving photography, literature, book production, poetry and music. Past projects have included Transitions (in association with The Excellence Cluster and Aim Higher). Twenty children who were deemed to be at risk joined a three day course during which they made a book which is used today to help students with the transition from Junior to Secondary school. I taught the art, photography and literature classes, organised the recording sessions (a music CD was made out of the students thoughts), made documentary photographs of the workshops, collated the material, designed, typset and edited the book and CD and then produced them. Examples of my photography/design work with schools and community groups are shown below.

Testimonials

"The energy that comes from reducing a scene or experience to it’s raw bones is captivating, and David Wise has it down to an art."

Black & White Photography Magazine, Aug 2007

"One cannot fail to feel the passion of David’s work, which manifests itself in every photographic plate."

Ancient Egypt Magazine, Nov 2006

"I have collaborated with Dave Wise on a number of projects over the last few years and have always found two rare and much-appreciated qualities in his work.

Firstly, Dave is realistic in what he takes on, well-organised and always does what he promises, delivering agreed actions on time and on budget. If only more people in this field were as competent and responsible.

Secondly, he is motivated by the arts themselves, their social and individual value, and is involved in cultural activities because he is sincere about them and about supporting artists."

Michael Curtis - Poet

"I have always found Dave to be extremely professional and incredibly supportive. He gave Medway a huge boost when he started the Medway Independent Festival and has been an integral part of the regeneration of the area's arts scene, whether it is encouraging school pupils to pick up a musical instrument during education outreach programmes, exposing people to new poets and authors, or just persuading people to listen to live music."

Laura Patrick - Journalist and Media Officer, Medway Council

"Dave is one of the founding fathers of Medway’s vibrant art scene."

The Kent Messenger Newspaper, Nov 2006

"If you’re looking for someone seriously infected with the travel bug and committed to living the dream, then Dave’s your man."

Adventure Travel Magazine, Nov 2001

"Over the last 10 years I have worked with Dave on exhibitions, installations, performances and festivals and I have never been less than happy with the end result.  All these events have been run in an organised, sensible but creative manner...I find Dave’s support and enthusiasm for artists and arts events in Medway nothing short of staggering."

Verne Sanderson - Operations Manager, The Brook & Central Theatres, Chatham

"Dave Wise has been part of several initiatives that have encouraged community collaboration between schools and the local community.  He has always been professional, dedicated and passionate about projects working and making a difference."

Jo Price - New Brompton College, Kent
